International Trumpet Guild - 2009 Conference at Messiah College

It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to the 34th annual ITG conference in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Centrally located to New York City, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington, D.C., the Harrisburg area is rich in American history, and easily accessible by air, train, bus, or automobile. The Hilton Hotel and Conference Center, which will serve as headquarters for the conference, is in the heart of downtown Harrisburg. Convenient on foot to all performance venues, the Hilton is just one block from the beautiful Susquehanna River and has an array of excellent dining options just outside the front door. With performers from North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia, this year's conference features an eclectic mix of Classical, Jazz, Fusion, Latin, and World music. Performane Venues
Sunoco Performance Theater
The Sunoco Performance Theater combines architectural understanding of performer's needs with a contemporary approach to the traditional English Court Theater model. The gently raked seating area ensures every patron a clear view of the stage with no patron seated more than 65 feet from the stage. Sunoco Performance Theater showcases 764 seats within the Orchestra, Mezzanine and Balcony levels, and its design features 14 theater boxes over those levels. Sunoco Performance Theater stage is a traditional proscenium with optional apron extension and is comparable in size to most on Broadway. Featuring state-of-the-art light, sound and technical equipment, the theater includes backstage fly space and an orchestra pit with mechanical lift.
Market Square Presbyterian Church
Moller 3-manuel pipe organ. Solid state console with SSL combination action and 32 levels of memory. The organ contains 12 general pistons and 8 pistons for each division. Programmable crescendo pedal (4 modes-3 are programmable) with digital readout. Manual transfer affecting Positif and Grand-Orgue and their pistons. Market Square also houses a Steinway Concert Grand piano and a 2-manuel harpsichord.
The Forum
Built in the Classical architectural style, with an Art Deco flavor, The Forum seats 1,763 patrons in a semi-circular arrangement. The ceiling, on which the various constellations and the entire zodiacal band are brilliantly and clearly drawn, depicts more than 1,000 stars in their proper position. The Forum stage measures 70 by 30 feet and is paneled in Circassian walnut. In 1968, a 3,600 pipe Moller organ was installed; more recently, in 1994, the facility was modified to better accommodate patrons who are handicapped. In 1998 the facility was restored to its 1931 appearance during an extensive technical renovation, which included the installation of an acoustically engineered sound system.
Capitol Rotunda
The grand staircase in the Capitol Rotunda leads to the Legislative chambers, the House on the right and the Senate on the left. The spectacular dome, modeled after the great dome of Saint Peter's Basilica in Rome, rises 272 feet from the ground and weighs 52 million pounds. The rotunda serves Pennsylvanians as a popular public forum, providing a magnificent and symbolic setting for many types of gatherings, from rallies and the signing of bills to news conferences and concerts.
